Eugene set the scene nicely for the perfect fall day, consisting of hiking, biking, exploring campus, and indulging in a couple of near-campus spots for a bite to eat and a sweet treat. Here’s how a Badger made the most of the day before Wisconsin faced Oregon at Autzen Stadium.
Hike along Skinner Butte.
For the best views of Eugene and a peek at the big “O,” the hillside letter representing the University of Oregon, check out the Skinner Butte peak. There are a few short trails that lead nicely to the Willamette river, your next stop!

Bike along the Willamette river.
The Ruth Bascom Willamette Riverbank Path is a 7.7-mile loop with much to see. You can rent a PeachHealth bike along the path to see as much as possible. The path features stops showcasing the area's history, playgrounds, a few restaurants, and an offshoot to Autzen, allowing you to make a pitstop at the stadium or Duck Shop.

Walk the University of Oregon campus.
Walking the University of Oregon campus is easy, and it’s pedestrian-friendly! The tree-filled plot of land is simple to navigate and boasts some fun surprises, such as unique water fountains and a duck statue similar to our Well Read Bucky! Here’s a walking map for the next time you’re on their campus.

Visit Hayward Hall.
Inside Hayward Hall, you’ll find exhibits showcasing the programs, achievements, and history of Oregon’s cross country and track and field squads. You’ll find jerseys, shoes, trophies, and more, including a stunning view of the inside of the stadium.

Have a scoop at Prince Puckler’s.
This Eugene staple has been around for 50 years. The ice cream is good enough to earn a visit from former President Barack Obama, so we figured it was good enough for us! Plus, they have a flavor that is almost the reverse of Babcock’s orange chocolate chip custard. Mandarin chocolate has a chocolate base with a hint of orange, unlike our orange-forward base with chips of chocolate. You can’t beat the creaminess of Babcock, but this scoop was delish!

Grab some grub at Hey, Neighbor! Pizza House.
You don’t have to walk far (about 70 feet) for a slice at Hey, Neighbor! Pizza House — which is perfect because you’ve enough walking today! We got a slice of You’re My (Cherry) Pie, and oh my it was a pie!

Need some familiarity? How about a beer garden?
Beergarden keeps it simple: they have beer, and they have a tent area with food trucks. Try out some local brews and take your pick from a variety of food trucks featuring Thai, tacos, and even cheese curds, if you’re really missing the Midwest!
On Saturday, it’s time to cheer on the Badgers in Autzen Stadium!
Before the Wisconsin vs. Oregon matchup, fans turned up for a tailgate packed with energy, brats, and Badger pride. Bucky and the Spirit Squad cranked up the hype, getting everyone to drop their brats and “Jump Around”! With a Camp Randall arch replica towering over the crowd, we brought a piece of home to Oregon. In the stadium, a sea of red and white showed what it truly means to be a Badger.
