Ours or theirs? If you mean for the UW’s Homecoming, this year will be the 15th time they’ve celebrated that holiday together. Of the previous 14 meetings, the Badgers have won nine and lost five. The UW first celebrated Homecoming in 1908, and for the first decade, the Badgers only played with Chicago or Minnesota in Homecoming games. In 1918, the Badgers branched out and played Illinois, and it first played Iowa on Homecoming in 1924. The Badgers lost that game 21–7. In the following century, the UW and Iowa occasionally butted heads on Homecoming, most recently in 2021, when the Badgers won 27–7. That was, in fact, the most recent time that the UW has beaten Iowa in football. But the UW has also played Iowa for Iowa’s homecoming (which only gets a lower-case h) nine times, first in 1912 (Iowa’s first homecoming game) and most recently in 1988. Of those nine, the UW has won three and lost six. So in total, the UW has played Iowa for Homecoming/homecoming 23-going-on-24 times, with a record of 12-going-on-13 and 11.
