Greetings from the Chapter President
Just like that, summer is gone, and back-to-school and football season is here. This summer, our chapter hosted a number of alumni events, including the Fourth Annual Golf Outing. This golf outing was our best one to date, raised almost $7,000 for our annual scholarships. I want to thank our generous sponsors, volunteers, golfers, and alumni board for their hard work that made the outing a success. We hope this event continues to grow, not only to help us raise scholarship funds but also to bring together Badger alumni and friends.
Earlier this month, we hosted our first Get Sett mixer/networking event at the Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery. It was a fun opportunity to welcome new alumni to the city and help them connect with area Badgers.
This fall, join us for our alumni game-watch parties — friends and family are welcome. We have partnered with The Mecca Sports Bar and Grill as well as 97.3 The Game to make this the official Badger game-watch location for all football games. Come cheer the football team to victory and enjoy some delicious food and drinks. Dates and times are listed on the Wisconsin Alumni Association® (WAA): Milwaukee Chapter events page. Don’t forget to wear your Wisconsin gear!
Finally, be sure to add the Big Red Rally to your calendar on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020. Be the first to learn more about the football team’s 2020 recruiting class. Watch for more details in the next month or so.
We hope to see you at a chapter event. On, Wisconsin!

Chapter Golf Outing Raises More Than $7,000 for Scholarships
The Fourth Annual WAA: Milwaukee Chapter Golf Outing at Silver Spring Country Club raised more than $7,000 for our scholarship fund through player fees, sponsorships, contests, and a silent auction. Last year, $20,000 in scholarships were awarded to Milwaukee-area students headed to the UW. That pool of students included seven first-generation college students and four students from Milwaukee Public Schools.
Our thanks to the very generous sponsors, participants, and donors who helped make the event such a great success.
The WAA: Milwaukee Chapter Board of Directors works diligently connect fellow Badgers and keep them informed about what is happening at the UW. To help you get to know your chapter better, we are putting the spotlight on the hardworking board members like Erica Blohm ’15.
Blohm is the vice president of the WAA: Milwaukee Chapter Board of Directors and has been humming “On, Wisconsin” since middle school. As the youngest serving board member, she is focusing on social and professional networking opportunities for area alumni.
Make a Gift to Support Chapter Scholarships
The Milwaukee chapter awards tuition scholarships each year to seniors graduating from Milwaukee County and Ozaukee County high schools who will attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison. These scholarships are made on the basis of financial need, high school grades, extracurricular activities, and general social adjustment. The scholarships are for freshman year only.
Badger Café takes UW–Madison professors to communities for timely talks on a variety of topics. At Badger Café events, you’ll meet some of the world’s most important scientists and scholars; hear exciting, new ideas; and learn about surprising innovations. These casual, free events are open to the public, and light refreshments are served.
