The Fond du Lac Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association recently presented Richard “Dick” Kleinfeldt with the Chapter’s 2016 Badger of the Year Award. The award was presented at the Fond du Lac Chapter’s Founder’s Day event on April 13, 2016. The Badger of the Year is an award that is presented annually by the local chapters of the Wisconsin Alumni Association to recognize a University of Wisconsin – Madison alumnus that has demonstrated leadership in their profession and community.
He received his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1963 and his Masters of Business Administration 1964. He was a Giddings & Lewis scholarship student – starting at G & L as a summer intern in 1960. He retired from G & L in 1997 as Vice President of Finance, CFO, Corporate Secretary and Board Member.
In addition to his role at G & L, Kleinfeldt has served in numerous capacities over the years in the Fond du Lac community, most notably including the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, FDL Lutheran Home, UW Fond du Lac Foundation, Beacon House Foundation, FDL Concert Association, FDL Children’s Museum, Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, Rienzi Cemetery, FDL Area Foundation, FDL Arts Council, St. Agnes Foundation, and the Sophia Foundation. In addition, he has also served on the G & L Foundation, FDL Police & Fire Commission and is trustee emeritus for Marian University.
Born and raised in Fond du Lac, Kleinfeldt has been married to his wife, Joan, for 53 years. They have three children and six grandchildren.
